The nose is layered with red, blue and black berry fruits and rounded out by brambly blackcurrant and a touch of charred oak. The palate is fruit forward, supple in the mid and finishes with long soft tannins. Aging in 25% new French oak adds a sweet lick of vanilla to the finish.
An early bud break, one of the longest flowering periods in years, and a long growing season produced a vintage that shines in quality. Spring started fast and an early bloom was met with a dip in temperature, which slowed the development and reduced yields. The result was a small crop of extremely well-concentrated fruit that ripened fully and slowly.
This wine displays the hallmark characteristics of Napa Valley Merlot crafted in a classic and food-friendly style. In the glass, the wine is vibrant garnet red in color and has lifted aromatics of red plum, dark cherry and dusty milk chocolate. The fruit on the palate is bright with satsuma plum and red berries. The prominent acid line throughout the palate fits neatly with the mid-weight tannin profile and leads to a finish that has touches of bitter dark chocolate.

Our first wine taking these wines on the road and it was wildly successful. A long-time friend offered us some fruit from one of his sought-after vineyards in the Red Hills just outside of Dundee, Oregon. Iron-rich soils and a mild climate create the perfect terroir for growing Burgundy wines.
